City of Fincastle roads will be undertaking an extensive road project repair, reseal, and restripe. The repair of cracks will take place later this week.

NO PARKING ON CITY STREETS JUNE 2-12 (no 3 hour grace period).

STRICTLY ENFORCED, VEHICLES WILL BE TOWED.

During the work, there will be sections that are completely blocked off. No one is to drive on those portions when blocked off, NO EXCEPTIONS, as damage to sealant will occur. Anyone caught violating this could be subject to paying for damages caused.

City residents will need to have patience with works crews working this project. This is the benefit of the city to protect the useful life of the city roads.

IMPORTANT:

There will be times when driveways may be inaccessible for a few hours to allow the sealant to cure. PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH BLOCKED ROAD PORTIONS THAT HAVE BEEN SEALED.

The City of Fincastle is nestled in the east end of Louisville, between Westport Road and Highway 22. This charming neighborhood is close to many restaurants and shopping centers. We are a Class 6 city with a legislative body composed of a Mayor, Attorney, Treasurer, Secretary and Commissioners. Fincastle was incorporated on January 25, 1974. The name Fincastle is a historical relic from the formation of Kentucky County, Virginia. This county was the precursor to the Commonwealth of Kentucky and was formed from Fincastle County, Virginia, in 1776. Fincastle County, Virginia was created in 1772 from Botetourt County, Virginia, at the time Botetourt County’s boundaries extended all the way to the Mississippi River. Fincastle, Virginia is the county seat of Botetourt County, Virginia. Fincastle, Virginia was named for Lord Fincastle.

Trash, Recycling, and yard waste pick up is provided to all residents of the City of Fincastle by Waste Management (WM.com)

Place your carts at least 3 feet apart and 3 feet away from any obstacles (trees, cars, mailboxes, etc.) to allow the automatic arm to lift and empty the carts. Place wheels of cart toward house.

NO materials outside cart will be collected

Reminder: Carts must be at curb the night before or no later than 4:00 a.m.

Section F of Ordinance 1, series 2024

Receptacles for discarded materials and recyclables which are left alongside public roadway before and/or following the day of the regularly scheduled refuse pick-up for the property; no garbage, yard waste or recycling items shall be placed out alongside public street for collection more than 24 hours prior to the collection day. The containers for such items must be removed from any public street within 24 hours after the day of collection. Recyclable items which have not been recycled within 30 days of being deposited on the property which are determined by the City Administrative Officer, or other person or employee as may be designated by the City Commission to enforce city ordinances to constitute a fire hazard or to be detrimental to human life, health or safety.
