ABOUT US

The City of Fincastle is nestled in the east end of Louisville, between Westport Road and Highway 22. This charming neighborhood is close to many restaurants and shopping centers.  We are a Home Rule city operating under the Commission Plan. The City Commission is composed of an elected Mayor and four elected Commissioners. Additionally, the city is supported by a non-elected Treasurer/Clerk. ​Fincastle was incorporated on January 25, 1974. The name Fincastle is a historical relic from the formation of Kentucky County, Virginia. This county was the precursor to the Commonwealth of Kentucky and was formed from Fincastle County, Virginia, in 1776. Fincastle County, Virginia was created in 1772 from Botetourt County, Virginia, at the time Botetourt County’s boundaries extended all the way to the Mississippi River. Fincastle, Virginia is the county seat of Botetourt County, Virginia. Fincastle, Virginia was named for Lord Fincastle.

The public has a right to inspect and obtain a copy of ordinances by mail at P.O. Box 22052, Louisville, KY 40252, at cityoffincastle.com, or in person at 4200 Shenandoah Drive, Louisville, KY on the second Thursday of each month

Important Information​

For individuals with a Notice of Violation who wish to contest their citation, you may do so by requesting, in writing within 7 days of citation issuance, a hearing before the Code Enforcement Board of the City of Fincastle. Contested citation may result in additional fees.

​

Failure to pay the applicable civil penalty or request a hearing, in writing, shall constitute a waiver of your right to contest the citation and the determination that a violation was committed shall be final and cannot be appealed to the Code Enforcement Board or district court. 

You are responsible for the issued fine and must still bring the property in compliance by correcting the violation.

Appeals may be submitted to the Fincastle City Clerk via electronic mail or to the city P.O. Box, which are both available on the Home Page and Mailing & Contacts Page

City Gazebo Rental - For Residence of Fincastle ONLY

Interested in renting the gazebo at the Fincastle main entrance for gatherings, here's your chance. For residence of Fincastle, you can now rent the gazebo by putting in a $250 fully refundable security deposit. Security deposit must be submitted by Fincastle resident.
